Agrarian Trust helps communities collectively
acquire, own, and steward farmland.
Land access is the biggest barrier for next generation farmers.
An estimated 400 million acres—more than 40% of U.S. farmland—will change hands in the next 15 years as the average age of farmers in the U.S. is almost 60 years old. Yet next generation farmers struggle to access land due to skyrocketing costs and insecure, short-term leases.
We support land access through community land ownership.
Agrarian Trust is a nonprofit national land trust co-organizing the Agrarian Commons. Our collection of legal tools and funding campaigns supports communities seeking to collectively acquire, own, and steward land. We welcome landowners to join us in reimagining their land’s legacy.
Help us do this important work.
